Could Machinima be part of academic tenure?

MLA are drafting ideas for how would-be academics could use digital work to apply for tenure.
Machinima is digital media-surely it qualifies?! To find out more have a look at their wiki. Unfortunately I did not see a reference to machinima, perhaps it could be suggested as an addition?

It feels like a boomerang really, like a seasonal disaster hitting. But as the question of art and games seems to transform itself gradually into something reasonable – one can run but probably not hide from it. So is machinima art? asks he rather uncomfortably. Again?
